Cryogenic Treatment

Cryogenic Treatment is a cryogenic tempering process to increase wear life and decrease residual stress. Cryogenic tempering after heat treat (this is a supplement to heat treating) transforms the material to a denser, harder, more stable structure that provides many benefits. Cryogenics employs low temperatures to complete the hardening transformation of Retained Austenite to Martensite.

Benefits:

  • improves hardness uniformity
  • improves shock resistance
  • reduce abrasive wear
  • reduce residual stress
  • enhance machinability
  • reduce corrosion
